Element 3.1
Design and implement short and long-term plans that are linked to program and instructional goals as well as a variety of student needs
Artifact: Individual Education Plan
Date: Fall 2012 During PED 356, Adapted Physical education, I was placed with a student who was Severely Emotionally Disturbed. My student was an amazing kid who had tons of energy and taught me a lot about teaching and certainly kept me on my toes throughout my lessons. One assignment was to create an IEP for this student and implement the short term aspects of them within the class. My IEP was for use in the pool where we were working on the front stroke. This artifact directly relates to standard three because IEP's are made to set goals for the upcoming semester as well for the future of my young student. This artifact also helps me as a teacher because when I am faced with a student with a disability I will not hesitate to keep them physically active. The IEP includes goals that are designed for short term use which is specific per class. And covers long term goals that reach from the end of my work with him until he graduates high school. A disability should never hold anybody back, instead we should attack with a plan. Everybody deserves to be physically educated! |
