Element 1.5
Analyze and correct critical elements of motor skills and performance concepts
Artifact: 355 Pre- Assessment
Date: Spring 2012 During my field experience at Homer Primary school I was able to teach the skill of throwing to a target. I used a checklist to look for the students elbow above their ear, stepping in opposition, following through, and for them to recite one cue to me. This chart helped me organize my analysis so I can watch multiple students throwing at once and quickly write down who needs some assistance. Also this chart helped me highlight the critical elements of throwing and ensure that these were the focal points of my lesson. Following the pre- Assessment I taught the correct way to throw and had my students practice for around fifteen minutes doing different drills and games. At the end of the class I observed again and as you can see from my chart, there was a ton of improvement. This shows that I am capable of observing students perform a movement and be able to fix errors. This is important at all ages to make sure students are performing a skill correctly. |
